Community Resources
The Northern Valley
Health Coalition
The Northern Valley Health Coalition (NVHC) is a collaborative network dedicated to improving the overall health and well-being of communities within the Northern Valley region. Guided by our mission to empower communities through partnerships, education, and advocacy, NVHC works to address the social determinants of health that go beyond traditional healthcare settings. Our vision is to create thriving communities where everyone has the opportunity to achieve optimal health, and our values—collaboration, equity, and empowerment—drive everything we do.

NVHC supports Sunshine Community Health Center’s (SCHC) mission by connecting the dots outside of healthcare, ensuring that the communities we serve have access to the resources and support they need for a healthier future. Whether through advocating for policy changes, providing educational resources, or fostering partnerships, NVHC plays a vital role in addressing the root causes of health disparities, creating a stronger, healthier community for all.
Alcohol Abuse Resources
AA and Al-Anon
Alcoholism is a chronic disease that can have devastating effects not only on the individual but also on loved ones and the broader community. As described by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), alcoholism is an illness that can lead to "total inability to live with others," causing physical, emotional, and social harm. Recovery is possible, and AA plays a crucial role in this journey by offering a supportive fellowship where individuals share their experiences, strength, and hope to help each other stay sober. Our communities are dedicated to making AA resources accessible both in-person and remotely, ensuring that help is always within reach. Visit our events page to learn more about available AA resources and how you can start your journey to recovery.
Â
While AA focuses on those battling alcoholism, it’s equally important to acknowledge the impact on family and friends. Al-Anon is a support network for those affected by someone else’s drinking, offering understanding and encouragement in a safe environment. Whether you’re a spouse, child, or friend of someone struggling with alcoholism, Al-Anon provides the tools and support you need to cope. Meetings are available in-person, remotely, or by phone, allowing you to choose the format that best fits your needs. To find a meeting that works for you, please visit Al-Anon’s website directly here. Remember, support is available for everyone impacted by alcoholism, and no one has to face it alone.
