Experience
Joy Miller brings over 21 years of experience in public education, having worked as both a teacher and a school counselor. She moved to Alaska in 2012 with her husband and two children and has since worked as a teacher and counselor in several valley schools. In May of 2024, Joy transitioned to the mental health field to pursue her Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification.
Joy is dedicated to building supportive environments that promote growth, healing, and mental wellness for both students and adults. She is passionate about providing compassionate care to clients through Sunshine Community Health Center’s school-based and behavioral health programs.
Approach
Joy strives to create a welcoming, empathetic space where clients can feel empowered to embark on their journey of personal growth and healing. With a team-minded approach, Joy works collaboratively with clients to foster positive change, good mental health, and a strong sense of well-being.
Personal Life
Outside of work, Joy enjoys spending time as a hockey and soccer mom, reading, and playing with her overly-energetic dog. She and her family are proud Alaskan residents, and she loves embracing the outdoor adventures that come with living in Alaska.
